The answer is a categorical yes! Research has shown that air purifiers are effective at removing bacteria, micro-organisms and viruses from indoor air. Mobile air purifiers work in the same way as stationary units. They contain a fan which forces air through a fine-meshed filter with varying sized gaps. Here is the difference between H13 and H14 HEPA* filters: H13 filters capture 99.95% and H14 filters trap 99.995% of viruses, bacteria and micro-organisms. The filter captures airborne particulate matter and prevents it recirculating as clean air is fanned back out into the room.
Many mobile air purifiers run quietly, though it’s virtually impossible to find a completely silent air purifier due to the fan motor that needs to run constantly.

For optimum functionality mobile HEPA filter unit should be positioned near the source of most pollutants or in an area of high airflow. Unless the unit has 3600 filtration it’s better not to place it in the corner of a room.
